We opened in the summer of August 6, 2004, and we were soon-to-be high school seniors. This site was random at the time, but fueled by our fandom for the legend. In the process, we met other crazy, amazing fans alike.
I’m so happy that (uber cool) Linker joined me in building the site, our Zelda Sanctuary, as you could say. We’ve been fans every since Ocarina of Time came out.
This is what we’re all about! If you have any further questions, feel free to comment!
Q: Why the names Dinker and Linker?
Dinker: One time back in the late 90s, I was playing Super Smash Brothers as Link. He was the cool character – probably because he owned a sword. While Link battled a computer player, he got thrown in the air. In horror, I screamed, “Dinker!” From the day forth, the name Dinker came to life.
Linker: I was looking for whatever rhymed with Dinker. It’s funny how going through the alphabet helps you find a name for thyself. It was either that or Tinker…
Q: Are you guys really….guys?
Dinker: Yeah, we get that question a lot. Whatever you decide.
Linker: Depends what day it is…
Q: When did you start playing Zelda?
Dinker: I was a late Zelda bloomer. If it weren’t for Super Smash Brothers and a trading of games between my brother and his friend, I doubt the Legend would ever be with me. So playing my first-real Zelda game: Ocarina of Time in 1999-2000, I became a noobie Zelda fan.
Linker: About 5 years ago. I first started with Zelda: OOT, then moved to earlier games. So, basically, I went backwards. OOT is still very sentimental to me. *hugs game cover*
Q: Why do you guys make fun of the Zelda characters?
Dinker: Actually, they make fun of themselves. It’s all in the figment of imagination. So this question is invalid.
Linker: Now why would we do that? We just feel that the characters should be shown in a way that’s comfortable and relaxed. It’s not like there always serious all the time. DNL is all about the fun. We want to give people a different outlook on the Zelda characters.
Q: Have you guys ever thought about splitting up and making your own Zelda sites?
Dinker: Nah, Linker and I are going to stay together. We are a team – unless one of us wins a million dollars…
Linker: I have some other sites already, but none of them compare to Dinker N Linker. It took a lot out of us to make DNL, and I wouldn’t do it with anyone else but Dinker. We have had a lot of fun together when thinking of material, and we basically have the same humor. It’s always good to be with someone that shares the same sense of humor as you. Plus, can you imagine me having a site, “Linker’s Zelda Playhouse”? Exactly.
Questions asked by Vaati Fan:
Q: What Zelda game haven’t you played?
Dinker: Let’s just say I played Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, the Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess.
Linker: Well, I haven’t played the older ones…like the one’s where Link’s sword looks like a carrot. Generally, however, I haven’t played the “Minish Cap” and “Four Swords” because I never got into it…and Dinker never wanted to rent it and come over. Dinker smells.
Q: Which Zelda game is your favorite and why?
Dinker: Ah, I am so indecisive when people ask that particular question. It is like asking: who is your favorite kid or how many licks does it take to get to the center of the lollipop? But if I must chose it has to be Ocarina of Time. It’s story line, memorable characters, and vast world captivated me. Not to mention it was my first Zelda game. Though if you were to ask where I would live, it would either be Termina because I absolutely love the Great Bay and its neighboring lands or the era of Twilight Princess.

Q: Which Zelda game is your least favorite and why?
Dinker: I’ve enjoyed all three. Each was an exciting new adventure for me to explore. However, I did not like some aspects of the Wind Waker. The sailing was too tedious. Sure navigating the seas is invigorating. But, when it’s in a video game it shouldn’t be so long and with the lack of site seeing. Also, I felt betrayed when they presented Link as young and fuzzy…
Linker: Least favorite? Everyone should know this by now, lol. We don’t call Windwaker the “Windfaker” for nothing. LOL. I just couldn’t modernize my mind into the very digital and geometrical form that was Link. *farts*
Q: Which Zelda characters are you most like and why?
Dinker: To discover that answer, I must ask another Zeldaist. I’m not sure if I am any character . On a test it named me as Saria, though. In the Great Bay, I think that I would adapt well as a Zora. I find their swimming style graceful and they seem to have a sense of independence. I would swim upon the shores, race with the beavers, and glide through the Pirates Cove. At the end of the day, I would float and flounder while listening to the Indigo Band.
Linker: Darunia. I love to party, dance, and just have a good time….but when things get serious, Iget down to business. *rolls down hill* Weee!!
Q: Why do you think about Vaati?
Dinker: I am not well acquainted with him, but he must be a unique character. If he weren’t so blue - in that picture – I could recognize his cuteness. For now he shall be a formidable opponent in dueling.
Linker: Is this a Zelda question? LOL..ummm, well, since I don’t know much about you I can’t make a very precise opinion of you. You seem nice and fun, though. Oh, and of course, very active in the community. Thanks a lot for the questions you sent. We appreciate it.
